The Patricia Hill Schieffer’s Village Family Foundation provides assistance to children in need following the loss of a parent through death or abandonment. The loss of a parent is a devastating, life-altering experience. The founders of the Foundation experienced this upheaval themselves and know that nothing can bring the parent back, and money will not erase the enormous impact the loss will have on a child’s life. However, some things might be made easier – some problems alleviated – through financial support. The purpose of our Foundation, therefore, is to help a child feel less alone at a time when the world seems to be a very sad place.
